TL;DR
Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer V - RPO (Python/C++/Spacecraft GN&C): Leading the architecture and development of relative-navigation, guidance, and control algorithms for autonomous spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking with a cooperative target with an accent on estimation, safety-critical trajectory logic, and 6-DOF control. Focus on designing navigation filters, approach and abort trajectories, collision avoidance, and closed-loop verification through simulation and processor- and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Location: Louisville, Colorado; must be local to the work location. Occasional telework is available. Must be a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Salary: $161,669.89–$271,112.57 annually.

Company

hirify.global provides engineering and technical services for federal government and aerospace missions.

What you will do

  • Own the relative-navigation, guidance, and control architecture for autonomous rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking missions.
  • Develop EKF/UKF filters, sensor fusion, and relative orbit determination using vision, LIDAR, and relative GNSS.
  • Design V-bar/R-bar and glideslope approaches, station-keeping, fly-around and inspection maneuvers, safe-hold points, and passive-abort trajectories.
  • Develop 6-DOF relative guidance and control through final approach, docking, and capture, including actuator control allocation.
  • Lead GN&C verification and validation through closed-loop simulation, Monte Carlo analysis, and processor- and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Mentor engineers, lead GN&C content in design reviews, and support mission planning, ADCS, propulsion, orbit analysis, and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a computational field, with 18+ years of experience for a BS, 16+ for an MS, or 12+ for a PhD.
  • Strong knowledge of orbit and attitude dynamics, relative orbital mechanics, space-environment modeling, and spacecraft estimation or control theory.
  • Hands-on algorithm development experience in C++ and Python or similar languages.
  • Experience with modern software development practices and version control, preferably Git.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • U.S. person status under ITAR/EAR and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with rendezvous, proximity operations, formation flying, on-orbit servicing, or flight GN&C.
  • Vision- or LIDAR-based relative navigation and pose estimation experience.
  • MATLAB/Simulink, model-based design, autocoding, advanced control methods, or embedded real-time flight software experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with occasional telework flexibility.
  • Health, life, disability, retirement, and savings benefits may be available depending on the position.
  • Paid time off and holiday pay.
  • Learning and development opportunities and wellness programs.
  • Additional optional benefit elections may be available.
