Director, External Communications (Data Center)

Location: Hybrid schedule with regular in-office presence required at the Dallas headquarters, United States. Travel is required based on business, media, community, and crisis communications needs.

What you will do

• Lead external media relations and public relations across national, industry, technology, infrastructure, energy, regional, and local media.
• Develop localized communications strategies for development and operating markets, including community and project communications.
• Strengthen and protect corporate reputation through issues monitoring, misinformation response, and crisis communications planning.
• Prepare executives and spokespersons for interviews, media engagements, and high-profile external communications.
• Partner with Government Affairs, Community Affairs, Legal, Development, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership on complex external matters.
• Lead the relationship with FGS, the external PR agency, including priorities, deliverables, performance expectations, and campaign execution.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or corporate affairs.
• Experience in the data center industry.
• Proven success developing external communications and media-relations strategies across national, business, trade, and local media.
• Experience managing corporate reputation, complex issues, crisis communications, and external PR agencies.
• Ability to advise C-suite executives and translate complex business, technical, energy, infrastructure, regulatory, and public-policy topics into clear communications.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure development, siting, community concerns, or locally sensitive projects.
• Experience with media training and spokesperson preparation.
• Experience managing communications across multiple geographic markets.
