TL;DR
Peer Recovery Specialist (Addiction Medicine): Providing individualized, trauma-informed peer recovery support for patients with substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder, with an accent on harm reduction, recovery planning, and connections to community resources. Focus on building sustained patient relationships, identifying barriers to care, coordinating with clinical partners, and escalating safety concerns when needed.

Location: Fully remote, but candidates must work and reside in Colorado. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. A private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet is required for HIPAA compliance.

Salary: $24.52–$28.32 per hour, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

  • Provide individualized, recovery-oriented peer support to patients with varying levels of need and complexity.
  • Build trusting relationships that promote recovery, self-efficacy, autonomy, and community connection.
  • Help patients establish recovery goals, identify strengths, and develop practical strategies.
  • Support patients during transitions in care and periods of increased vulnerability.
  • Connect patients with community resources and coordinate with clinical, care management, and community partners.
  • Identify engagement barriers, recognize safety concerns, and escalate situations outside the scope of peer support.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in peer recovery support, including experience navigating opioid use disorder treatment resources and referrals.
  • Active peer certification in good standing in Colorado, where available.
  • Current National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) certification through NAADAC, or the ability to obtain it within 9 months of hire.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability for a full-time 40-hour schedule aligned with Mountain Time.
