AI/ML Principal Engineer

What you will do

• Deliver AI/ML systems engineering expertise to validate technical and operational solutions.
• Design and develop AI/ML solutions for defense, intelligence, and mission applications.
• Contribute to acquisition documents, including statements of work, specifications, engineering plans, and evaluation strategies.
• Lead problem definition, technical studies, analytical data collection, and strategic recommendations.
• Diagnose AI/ML system challenges and support reliability, mission readiness, and operational performance.
• Advise cross-functional personnel and communicate progress to leadership and government stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML, applied analytics, or systems engineering.
• Experience building, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale distributed data pipelines.
• Knowledge of ML models, intelligence-analytic use cases, model validation, statistical analysis, and operational constraints.
• Proficiency in modern algorithms, data science methods, and systems/network security fundamentals.
• Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI is preferred; highly qualified Secret-cleared candidates may also be considered.

Nice to have

• Defense, intelligence, U.S. Army, Department of Defense, federal RDT&E, or government laboratory experience.
• Experience with EW, SIGINT, cyber, multi-domain operations, C5ISR, PED, weather analytics, or data fusion.
• Experience deploying AI/ML models at the tactical edge and integrating them with payloads, software-defined radios, or vehicle-mounted systems.
• Experience with containerized AI/ML deployment, GPU-accelerated pipelines, DevSecOps, CI/CD, MOSA, MBSE, or rapid prototyping.
• Experience with distributed analytics in Army cloud or hybrid-edge environments, data taxonomies, interoperability standards, and mission-data synchronization.
