Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Fully remote within Colombia, Mexico, Peru, or Uruguay

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 USD annually as a contractor, depending on experience

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional delivery teams of 4–5 engineers and report to the Head of Engineering.
• Build concrete growth plans, coach engineers, manage performance, and address conflict directly.
• Own delivery cadence, scope, risk management, quality, and team commitments.
• Partner with Product, Design, Quality Engineering, Architecture, Security, and other engineering teams from roadmap through release.
• Provide technical direction on system design, architectural risks, debugging, and blocker removal.
• Introduce AI tools and workflows for code review, documentation, sprint planning, debugging, and development.

Requirements

• Experience leading fully remote engineering teams as the default operating model.
• Strong people-development skills, including career planning, difficult conversations, and structured performance management.
• Ability to lead distributed teams through asynchronous decision-making and written communication.
• Data-driven approach to velocity, retention risk, individual growth, and delivery outcomes.
• Technical credibility through code reviews, architectural input, and hands-on debugging when needed.
• Advanced practical experience with AI-enabled engineering workflows, including tools such as Claude or Copilot.
