Principal Architect, Payments & Ledger (Fintech)

Location: Singapore, Singapore; hybrid workplace.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture for multi-currency wallets, balances, the core ledger, card issuing, FX, transfers, treasury, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Define double-entry ledger models, balance consistency, correction rules, transaction state machines, idempotency, retries, compensation, and failure handling.
• Design card authorisation, clearing, settlement, disputes, chargebacks, tokenisation, and virtual and physical card lifecycles.
• Shape FX, liquidity, pre-funding, cross-border payout rails, sanctions and AML screening, and multi-market partner integrations.
• Set measurable non-functional requirements for latency, throughput, availability, recovery, replay, backfill, and cost.
• Mentor technical leaders, lead architecture reviews, document design decisions, and develop a small architecture group over time.

Requirements

• Deep experience designing or substantially rebuilding production financial ledgers, including journal design, posting models, balance consistency, and correction strategies.
• Hands-on expertise with card scheme integrations, issuer processing, authorisation flows, clearing files, disputes, and chargebacks.
• Production-scale coding experience with systems handling real traffic and real money.
• Experience with regulated payment environments, customer fund safeguarding, licensing, data residency, auditability, and technology risk requirements.
• Experience operating across multiple countries, currencies, regulators, partners, and time zones.
• Strong technical writing, architecture judgement, partner oversight, and communication skills; Golang, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native infrastructure are advantageous.
