Salary: $199,700–$315,900 USD per year. In Seattle, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City Metro Area, the range is $239,800–$379,300 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead an organisation of approximately 40 engineers and managers focused on hirify.globalsearch distributed systems and Serverless hirify.globalsearch.
• Develop and execute long-term engineering strategy aligned with product direction and business objectives.
• Drive improvements in performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Lead the evolution of cluster coordination, data allocation, indexing, replication, recovery, and other core distributed architecture.
• Guide engineering managers and senior technical leaders through architectural decisions, organisational planning, staffing, and complex cross-team initiatives.
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Support, and SRE, while communicating strategy and outcomes to senior executives.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading large-scale engineering organisations, managing engineering managers, and developing senior technical leaders.
• Previous hands-on software engineering experience with strong computer science fundamentals and substantial depth in distributed systems.
• Experience designing, building, or operating complex distributed systems involving database engines, distributed storage, or large-scale data processing.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, consistency, replication, fault tolerance, recovery, performance optimisation, and production reliability.
• Experience setting engineering strategy, making architectural trade-offs, managing senior hiring and performance, and delivering complex multi-team initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical strategy and organisational priorities to senior executives.
