Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (Autonomous Vulnerability Research)

Location: Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh or London, UK. Hybrid working requires at least two days per week, or 40% of working time, at an office site.

Salary: £72,702–£88,858 for non-London locations; £84,051–£102,729 for London.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes platforms for agentic vulnerability research workloads, including ephemeral execution environments and multi-tenant isolation.
• Own Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code across GCP and deliver reproducible, reviewable, policy-compliant environments.
• Engineer hardened container and virtual machine images with automated patching, runtime security, and minimal attack surfaces.
• Implement egress-controlled networking, network policies, service mesh controls, segmentation, secrets management, and least-privilege workload authentication.
• Build secure CI/CD pipelines with SBOMs, image signing, artefact provenance, and automated policy gates.
• Deliver observability and evidence-capture systems covering logs, metrics, traces, cost telemetry, immutable audit trails, artefact retention, and reproducible run records.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience across workload design, networking, autoscaling, RBAC, and multi-tenancy isolation.
• Strong Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience managing production cloud estates.
• Substantial GCP experience, including GKE, IAM, VPC or networking, Cloud Build, and Artifact Registry, or comparable cloud expertise with willingness to work in GCP.
• Experience with container and VM hardening, image minimisation, runtime security, vulnerability management, egress control, network policy, and segmentation.
• Strong CI/CD and observability engineering skills, including logging, tracing, metrics, auditability, and evidence retention.
• A security-first mindset and the judgement to balance researcher velocity with containment requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience building platforms for offensive security, malware analysis, or other high-risk workloads requiring strong isolation.
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or LLM workloads, including GPU scheduling, inference infrastructure, or agent runtime environments.
• Cloud, Kubernetes, or cybersecurity certifications and training.
• Open-source contributions to infrastructure, platform, or security tooling.
• Experience in highly regulated financial services environments and evidencing controls for audit and risk functions.
