Applications Engineer (Metal Additive Manufacturing)

Location: Devens, MA, United States

Annual base salary: $140,800–$193,698, plus eligible variable compensation.

What you will do

• Analyze customer product requirements and determine how manufacturing capabilities can meet them.
• Develop first-cut product proposals to validate fit and identify technical risks or constraints early.
• Gather and document customer requirements for NPI engineering teams.
• Partner with sales on technical proposals and customer meetings.
• Act as the senior technical presence in complex commercial conversations with industrial customers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in applications engineering, sales engineering, or a technical product role in manufacturing.
• Experience operating at a senior, customer-facing level.
• Ability to assess technical feasibility quickly and communicate constraints and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong written communication skills for translating customer discussions into actionable engineering documentation.
• Ability to build relationships and engage with sophisticated industrial buyers.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with metal additive manufacturing or 3D printing.
• Experience with precision machining, casting, or forging.
• Experience supporting technical sales cycles in engineered-to-order or highly customized manufacturing.
• Cross-functional experience with design, engineering, and sales teams.
