DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Own Kubernetes clusters across development, staging, and production, along with Docker builds and DigitalOcean infrastructure.
• Manage cloud and cluster resources as code with Terraform and improve the path from code merge to production.
• Increase deployment safety and frequency, while managing autoscaling, load balancers, connection limits, and overall capacity.
• Operate PostgreSQL, Redis, and NATS under production traffic, including query investigation, migrations, messaging compatibility, and capacity management.
• Maintain Cloudflare edge configuration, including DNS, proxying, caching, rate limiting, Turnstile, and R2.
• Own observability, build self-service infrastructure paths, respond to incidents, lead root cause analysis, and write preventive postmortems.

Requirements

• Senior-level DevOps experience and production Kubernetes experience covering rollouts, autoscaling, networking, load balancers, and deployment debugging.
• Strong Linux and Docker skills, plus experience working with an existing CI system.
• Production experience operating PostgreSQL and Redis, including slow queries, connection limits, and schema migrations without downtime.
• Experience running a production message broker; NATS experience or equivalent is applicable.
• Experience placing Cloudflare or a similar edge platform in front of a public service and debugging incidents across logs, metrics, databases, and the edge.
• Independent, collaborative, documentation-oriented communication style with an AI-forward mindset.

Nice to have

• Machine-readable documentation, structured architecture notes, and agent-readable runbooks.
• Self-service infrastructure paths, golden paths, templates, or internal tooling.
• Security, threat modelling, access control, audit practices, governance guardrails, or cloud cost optimization experience.
• Live services or gaming infrastructure experience.
• Experience as a solo or near-solo infrastructure engineer at a small company.
