FINRA Legal Extern, Enforcement (Unpaid) - 2027 Spring Semester

What you will do

• Support Enforcement attorneys, investigators, and management with investigations into potential securities-law and regulatory violations.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written legal work.
• Review documents and assist staff preparing for on-the-record testimony.
• Observe on-the-record interviews and settlement negotiations.
• Attend departmental meetings and participate in skills and knowledge training.

Requirements

• Graduate student pursuing a JD or LLM.
• Strong writing, analysis, and research skills.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to collaborate, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Spring externs must work at least 12 hours per week and earn current course credit; at least one academic credit is required.
• Successful applicants must pass a drug screening test and a basic background check before starting.

Nice to have

• Coursework or knowledge in securities law or brokerage regulations.
• Experience in the securities industry.
