Geotechnical Driller

Location: Field-based work at outdoor drill sites, with travel of approximately 1–2 hours each way per day.

Testing Engineers & Consultants provides engineering and field services involving geotechnical drilling and environmental sampling.

What you will do

• Operate auger, mud, rotary, core, and Geoprobe drilling equipment at shallow and moderate depths.
• Collect and measure soil and groundwater samples using Geoprobe and SPT hammer systems.
• Maintain drill rigs, vehicles, machinery, tools, and related equipment, reporting problems to the drilling manager.
• Follow site maps, boring layouts, drilling instructions, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Maintain drilling logs and soil classifications, locate utilities, identify safety concerns, and complete site cleanup.
• Install geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring wells, perform infiltration tests, and complete welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round and travel to drill sites for approximately 1–2 hours each way per day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally or with team assistance.
• Must obtain a commercial driver’s license within 6 months of hire.
• Must complete 40-hour OSHA training for environmental drilling and sampling within 6 months of hire.
• Previous drilling experience is preferred; pre-employment, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol screening is required.
