Sea Around Us Research Assistant (Fisheries)

Salary: CAD 4,845.17–5,713.66 per month

What you will do

• Conduct and plan analyses of fisheries datasets.
• Support research programming and interpret experimental results.
• Assist with preparing and publishing research papers and conference proceedings.
• Present research and experiment results at conferences and symposiums.
• Coordinate workflows between the Sea Around Us database team and the Principal Investigator.
• Support daily processes, procedures, scheduling, and organization within the research unit.

Requirements

• Completion of a relevant technical program or university degree, plus at least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting fisheries-related data, identifying implications, making recommendations, and resolving issues.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong initiative, curiosity, attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse colleagues and partners.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and respect for diverse perspectives.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Biology.
• Ability to provide effective counsel and instructions to other group members.
• Flexibility and creativity in solving problems and identifying opportunities.
