Spin Qubit Calibration Engineer (quantum computing/Python): Calibrating, tuning, and optimizing spin qubit devices to improve gate fidelities, coherence times, and quantum processor scalability with an accent on cryogenic experiments, RF and microwave control, and hardware-software integration. Focus on developing automated calibration routines, diagnosing decoherence, charge noise, and crosstalk, and improving qubit initialization, readout, and error-correction techniques.

Location: On-site in Delft, Dublin, or Sherbrooke

What you will do

  • Calibrate and fine-tune spin qubit systems to improve gate fidelities, coherence times, and device performance.
  • Optimize qubit initialization, readout processes, and error-correction techniques with quantum hardware teams.
  • Integrate quantum hardware with control electronics and software across cross-functional teams.
  • Develop automated calibration routines and control sequences using Python.
  • Diagnose qubit decoherence, charge noise, and crosstalk using experimental and data-driven methods.
  • Document calibration results and device performance, and present findings to technical teams.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Quantum Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating and measuring solid-state quantum devices, such as spin qubits or superconducting qubits.
  • Strong knowledge of quantum mechanics and semiconductor device physics.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems or low-temperature experiments, and RF and microwave electronics for qubit control.
  • Expertise in Python for data analysis, control automation, and experimental optimization.
  • Knowledge of quantum control software, integrated hardware-software systems, and Git or other version control systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spin qubit systems or semiconductor-based quantum technologies.
  • Understanding of quantum error correction, multi-qubit architectures, scalable quantum computing hardware, and quantum information theory.
  • Experience with software development best practices, code documentation, and collaborative coding.
