Staff Engineer, Field Service (AI)

Location: San Diego, California; on-site. Domestic and international travel is required for demonstrations, training, exercises, and customer support.

What you will do

• Plan and execute customer flight plans, demonstrations, exercises, and evaluations that connect Vision Systems capabilities to mission needs.
• Operate Vision Systems software, EO/IR sensors, mission-system interfaces, and associated equipment while managing readiness, configuration, connectivity, and field troubleshooting.
• Develop and deliver operator training, practical exercises, briefings, procedures, checklists, and standardized demonstration materials.
• Build relationships with operators, instructors, intelligence personnel, and customer program teams to support onboarding and operational adoption.
• Translate customer observations into operational requirements, usability issues, product feedback, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, flight operations, business development, and marketing on field testing, scenarios, customer materials, and capability validation.

Requirements

• Significant experience in airborne ISR sensor operations, operational intelligence support, or a related mission-system or field applications role.
• Practical knowledge of EO/IR sensor employment, gimballed sensors, full-motion video, real-time task management, crew coordination, and multi-sensor operations.
• Understanding of ISR collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination, including how sensor outputs support operational decisions.
• Familiarity with mission-system interfaces, tactical applications, communications networks, data links, joint ISR collection, dynamic targeting, CRM, and ORM.
• Ability to instruct, mentor, deliver technical and operational briefings, troubleshoot new software and mission systems, and work independently with customers.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and empathy for end users.

Nice to have

• Experience as an airborne sensor operator, instructor, evaluator, or standardization specialist in manned or unmanned ISR, maritime patrol, special operations, or comparable environments.
• Experience with GRP 1, 2, and 3 UAS, aviation safety, operational test and evaluation, or airborne sensor and mission-system integration.
• Experience with radar, signals intelligence, automated target detection and recognition, computer vision, or multi-sensor fusion.
• Experience supporting UAS demonstrations, flight testing, payload operation, or defense technology customers.
