Senior Frontend Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

Salary: CAD 120,000–145,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications

What you will do

• Build and maintain performant, scalable web applications on Shopify and Hydrogen.
• Lead frontend architecture decisions, refactor existing systems, and improve code quality.
• Use AI coding tools and build AI-assisted workflows and internal tooling.
• Develop and evaluate customer-facing AI features for search, personalization, and content generation.
• Collaborate with design, product, and backend teams to create seamless customer experiences.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers and contribute to code reviews, planning, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend development experience with strong TypeScript and JavaScript expertise.
• Deep React experience, including React Router v7 or an equivalent modern routing framework.
• Experience building large-scale e-commerce applications, Shopify Hydrogen solutions, and headless commerce architectures.
• Production experience with AI coding assistants, prompt and context writing, and rigorous review of AI-generated code.
• Proficiency with unit and integration testing, GraphQL, REST APIs, performance optimization, and web vitals.
• Strong UX/UI sensibility and close collaboration with design.

Nice to have

• React Native or mobile development experience.
• Exposure to agentic tooling or MCP-based integrations.
• Experience shipping an AI-powered product feature end to end.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Honeycomb or Sentry.
• Experience with Git, NPM or Yarn, SCSS, and ES6 at scale.
