TL;DR
Principal Data Engineer (AWS): Designing scalable data architectures, pipelines, ETL processes, and AWS-based data migration solutions with an accent on reliability, data warehousing, and large-scale processing. Focus on leading technical designs, automating reconciliation workflows, integrating REST APIs, and mentoring engineers across the software development life cycle.
Location: 100% remote work permitted from any US location; worksite in Johnston, Rhode Island, United States.

What you will do
- Design scalable and reliable data architectures, pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.
- Lead complex technical design decisions, create high-level designs, and document data migration jobs, metadata, file layouts, and workflows.
- Analyze existing systems, gather and validate business and application requirements, and plan and execute Agile sprints.
- Manage software development life cycle activities from development and testing through production deployment.
- Conduct code and design reviews with network, infrastructure, and solutions engineering teams.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers while reviewing implementations from team members and contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience as a Senior Data Engineer, IT Consultant, or in a related position.
- At least 7 years of experience building data pipelines, data warehouses, ETL applications, enrichment frameworks, and reconciliation processes.
- Hands-on experience with Spark, Python, Talend, IBM DataStage, ODI, Unix, PL/SQL, Teradata, AWS, Java, JavaScript, C, and C++.
- Experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, Lambda, EC2, RDS, EMR, Redshift, and IAM, as well as Azure and GCP.
- Experience developing REST APIs and using CI/CD tools including Bitbucket, GitHub, and Jenkins.
