Solar Installation and Maintenance Technician, Free State

What you will do

• Assess sites and roof specifications for solar panel installations.
• Assist with designing and planning solar systems based on customer requirements.
• Install racking, solar panels, electrical components, wiring, and grounding in line with applicable codes.
• Test, validate, and activate installations while verifying performance and efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, and maintain detailed installation records.
• Travel to installation sites in a company vehicle and follow PPE, safety, and SANS installation standards.

Requirements

• National Certificate in Electrical Trades (N3) or an equivalent qualification.
• Compulsory One Phase Wiremen's License.
• At least 2 years of experience installing solar panels or working in a related field.
• Knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, electrical fundamentals, SANS Wiring Code SANS 10142-1, and South African safety regulations.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics, work at heights and in varying weather, and lift heavy equipment.
• Valid South African driver's license and ability to work onsite in South Africa.

Nice to have

• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Candidate Engineering Technician.
• Experience with different roofing materials.
• Strong customer service skills.
