Fire & Security Estimating Coordinator

Location: Remote from South Africa, observing UK business hours and UK public holidays

Salary: ZAR 18,000–20,000 per month

What you will do

• Analyze architectural floor plans, survey notes, photos, and site videos to define project scope.
• Assess existing fire and security infrastructure and specify required systems, components, and hardware.
• Estimate materials, device counts, cable runs, labor requirements, and project costs.
• Prepare itemized client-facing quotations and material lists while maintaining target profit margins.
• Source supplier pricing, identify upgrade opportunities, and coordinate technical details with engineers and clients.
• Ensure designs align with manufacturer guidance and relevant British Standards while supporting Operations and Service teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience in estimating, desktop surveying, or system design within the fire and security industry.
• Knowledge of fire alarms, intruder alarms, IP CCTV, and access control platforms.
• Ability to read scale floor plans and schematic drawings and extract measurements.
• Working knowledge of British Standards for fire and security installations.
• Ability to calculate margins, estimate labor, and build accurate project costs.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word, and standard quoting software.

Nice to have

• Hands-on installation or service engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD or PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam for digital takeoffs.
• Familiarity with Texecom, Hikvision, Paxton, C-TEC, Ajax, EMS Smartcell, or Pyronix.
