Data Scientist - Linear Optimization (All Genders)

Location: Munich, Germany; hybrid work with 60% of time in the office and 40% at home. An option is available to work up to 20 days abroad in approved countries.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and integrate linear and mixed-integer optimization models into production.
• Build tools for cost-efficient planning across an outbound logistics network processing more than 1,000,000 parcels weekly.
• Analyze data, run simulations, and present actionable insights to engineering, product, and operations stakeholders.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping through deployment, monitoring, and improvement.
• Ensure solution quality and performance through testing, validation, and production monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience solving linear optimization and mixed-integer problems.
• At least 1 year of experience using commercial solvers, preferably Gurobi.
• Advanced mathematical modeling and simulation experience, with proficiency in Python, Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
• Practical experience with relational databases and SQL queries.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; English is the working language.
