Senior Commissioning Engineer (Energy Storage)

Location: Germany — Remote; frequent travel to project sites and up to 80% travel required.

What you will do

• Lead commissioning activities for utility-scale energy storage projects from planning through execution.
• Develop commissioning plans, schedules, testing protocols, and execution strategies for large EPC projects.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with construction managers, contractors, suppliers, telecommunications teams, control system specialists, customers, and partners.
• Ensure safe, timely, high-quality delivery and compliance with the Safety Management System.
• Support project development with Sales and Sales Engineering through resource planning, timelines, and execution strategies.
• Improve regional and global commissioning processes, standards, reporting, and operational performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, project execution, operations, or a related technical field.
• Experience leading safety initiatives in operational or industrial environments.
• Strong project planning, organization, coordination, communication, and structured problem-solving skills.
• Practical experience with SCADA systems and MODBUS communications, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken; willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience in renewable energy, battery energy storage, power generation, utilities, or electrical infrastructure.
• Familiarity with SAP or equivalent enterprise reporting and asset management systems.
• Experience with large-scale EPC projects, grid integration, utility commissioning requirements, and power system testing.
