Application Engineer (FEM/FEA)

What you will do

• Develop and validate test methods, test vehicles, technologies, and models to characterize products for customers and market segments.
• Plan and conduct mechanical, thermal, and electrical reliability testing of products and prototypes.
• Demonstrate material assembly and process feasibility through performance testing, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
• Investigate new technologies and adapt testing approaches to application and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with component and equipment vendors, assembly houses, Product Management, R&D, Quality, and Process Engineering.
• Support customer product approvals and launches, report project progress, publish technical papers, and calibrate research equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, preferably Physics, or Engineering, plus 1–2 years of manufacturing experience; or a Master's degree or PhD with at least 1 year of industrial R&D experience.
• Experience with ANSYS Polyflow or similar finite-element polymer-processing software, including thermoforming simulation and thickness-distribution prediction.
• Knowledge of FEM modeling and analysis, materials testing, product characterization, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially injection moulding, FIM, or related technologies.
• CAD experience, APQP knowledge, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and mathematical skills in calculus and matrix algebra.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with customers and cross-functional teams globally.
