Terminal Operator (Petrochemicals)

What you will do

• Handle liquid chemicals and petroleum products through barges, tank-to-tank transfers, tank cars, and tank trucks.
• Open and close valves, connect and disconnect hoses, and transfer products between bulk containers.
• Gauge elevated tanks, inspect liquid-handling equipment, and perform housekeeping and spill cleanup.
• Label containers and vessels according to DOT regulations and complete bills of lading and other documentation.
• Follow standard operating procedures, participate in safety training, and support a safe and efficient terminal operation.
• Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency assignments in a 24-hour operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with pipe wrenches, box wrenches, and similar tools.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the company and its insurers.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate in English.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds; climb ladders and stairs; work at heights; and traverse uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and remain standing, sitting, or walking for periods of up to 14 hours.

Nice to have

• Trade school, formal training, or significant experience handling hazardous liquid chemicals.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene, and related industry regulations.
