Network Engineering Specialist (IP Networking): Designing and evolving BT’s Network Cloud fabric for mobile, voice, broadband, and cloud-hosted services with an accent on IP networking, EVPN/VXLAN data-centre fabrics, connectivity, and technical assurance. Focus on producing scalable HLDs and LLDs, leading Cisco migration and automation initiatives, and establishing resilient, supportable network design standards.

What you will do
- Design and evolve BT’s Network Cloud fabric and tenant connectivity through high-level and low-level designs.
- Lead routing, switching, EVPN/VXLAN, overlay, IP networking, MPLS/WAN integration, VRF, and resilience design.
- Define standard connectivity, onboarding, platform-growth, documentation, testing, and operational handover patterns.
- Translate tenant requirements into scalable, repeatable, secure, and supportable network solutions.
- Drive automation, lifecycle management, platform transformation, and migration from Juniper to Cisco architectures.
- Lead design reviews, technical investigations, risk assessments, and collaboration with engineering, NOC teams, tenants, and vendors.
Requirements
- Expertise in large-scale IP networking, including BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, routing, switching, and data-centre fabric design.
- Experience leading network architecture, producing HLDs and LLDs, evaluating technical trade-offs, and acting as a technical design authority.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, network automation, software-defined networking, and integration with cloud or NFVi platforms.
- Experience designing leaf-spine, underlay/overlay, and tenant-segmented network fabrics.
- Strong stakeholder, vendor, documentation, and technical leadership skills, including mentoring engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Experience delivering large-scale network and data-centre fabric solutions in telecoms, cloud, or critical-infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of OpenStack, OVN, KVM, virtualisation, and NFVi platforms.
- Experience with large-scale transformation and vendor migration programmes.
