FDE - Data Engineer (GCP)

Location: Madrid, Spain. The role involves travel and work on customer premises as required.

What you will do

• Partner with customers to translate business and data challenges into scalable, secure technical solutions.
• Design, build, and optimize data platforms and pipelines on GCP using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer/Airflow, and Dataform.
• Implement modern data architectures, including lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, batch and streaming systems, and migrations to GCP.
• Own delivery workstreams from discovery and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production stabilization.
• Build production-ready foundations for machine learning and generative AI, including data quality, feature preparation, vector and unstructured data processing, and Vertex AI integration.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, observability, data quality, lineage, and cost efficiency across customer workloads.

Requirements

• Demonstrable programming expertise in Python or another modern language such as C#, Node, or TypeScript.
• Experience with software delivery lifecycles, Git and GitHub, Pandas, Spark, and distributed computing architectures.
• Experience with cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google AI.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including executives.
• Degree-level education in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Willingness to travel and work on customer premises as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, and open-source AI ecosystems.
• Experience designing multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, or CrewAI.
• Practical knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation and structured and unstructured knowledge systems.
• Knowledge of system-level optimization and security for scalable AI systems.
