Staff Software Engineer (AI Developer Platform)

Location: Remote or in-office in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, or Ireland; remote work may also be possible elsewhere in Europe subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.

Salary: Starts at EUR/GBP/CHF 130,000 base plus equity (RSUs).

What you will do

• Own architectural decisions for how features are built, released safely, and supported long term.
• Lead multi-quarter developer platform projects, define milestones, and manage technical trade-offs with high autonomy.
• Build and operate developer productivity tooling, CI/CD systems, observability and metrics infrastructure, testing infrastructure, and AI-assisted development capabilities.
• Partner with engineering leadership to shape the technical roadmap, challenge requirements, and define technical strategy.
• Own the operational health, reliability, maintenance, and deprecation of platform systems.
• Mentor engineers and improve technical practices through code reviews and design partnership.

Requirements

• At least seven years of software engineering experience, including two to three years at senior or staff level.
• Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability or metrics infrastructure, code quality automation, testing infrastructure, or developer tooling.
• Experience shipping infrastructure or tooling that improved developer velocity or reduced cognitive load.
• Experience leading the adoption of AI-powered developer tools or capabilities across an engineering organization.
• Experience owning large technical areas end to end and operating systems at scale.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, SaaS tools, or external platforms with attention to reliability, security, and user experience.

Hiring process

• 30–40-minute recruiter call, followed by a 45-minute discussion with an Engineering Manager about past projects.
• 90-minute Python product discovery and implementation collaboration exercise, followed by a 60-minute system design discussion.
• 60-minute leadership interview focused on collaboration, growth, and the future team.
