What you will do
- Optimize Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances through query tuning, indexing, and configuration management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot high-volume data pipelines, ETL workflows, and integrations using Azure Data Factory and related cloud-native tools.
- Manage database security, access controls, data masking, encryption, and data governance requirements.
- Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, geo-replication, and high-availability strategies aligned with strict RPO and RTO objectives.
- Collaborate with software engineering, data, and infrastructure teams to build and deploy scalable Azure and hybrid data environments.
- Implement schema changes, change management, and automation scripts using Azure-native tooling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of database administration experience, including at least 3 years with Microsoft Azure SQL services.
- Deep expertise in Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and on-premises SQL Server.
- Experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting enterprise data pipelines and cloud databases.
- Strong T-SQL skills, including query tuning, stored procedures, triggers, and views.
- Experience with cloud automation, scripting, and deployment through Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or PowerShell.
Nice to have
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203).
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or Microsoft Purview.
- Knowledge of Datadog or similar observability tools.
- Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises database architectures and performance tuning.
