Experienced Jumbo Operator (Underground Mining)

Location: Residential onsite role at Macraes Underground Operations in Otago, New Zealand; drive-in, drive-out access from Dunedin, Oamaru, or nearby towns. 7 days on / 7 days off, with alternating day and night 12-hour shifts.

What you will do

• Operate Jumbo development drills safely and efficiently to mine headings and install ground support.
• Ensure headings meet required size, alignment, gradient, and mine standards.
• Install bolts, mesh, and other ground support to the required minimum standard or higher.
• Mark up faces accurately according to mine plans and memos.
• Stop work when safety requirements are not met and promote a positive team culture.
• Lead by example and mentor trainee operators as a senior team member.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of underground mining experience, preferably including 5 years operating a Jumbo.
• Proven experience operating Sandvik Jumbo drills.
• Competence in boring headings and declines and installing bolts and mesh.
• Experience as a Loader Operator and Development Charge Up.
• Current full driver licence and First Aid Certificate.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spiling and SDA installation.
