Staff Software Engineer, iOS (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA, with at least 25% of working time in one of the offices

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Architect and implement iOS applications for the Claude mobile product.
• Develop product capabilities that leverage advanced AI and language models.
• Optimize performance across the mobile stack and improve the app experience.
• Establish mobile development best practices and maintain high implementation quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, research, design, and product partners.
• Contribute to backend systems as needed and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Expertise in Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, and iOS frameworks.
• Proficiency with current mobile platform capabilities and their technical intricacies.
• Practical full-stack development experience and comfort with backend technologies.
• Experience shipping impactful, widely adopted mobile applications.
• Strong communication and mentorship skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience building successful products from 0 to 1 in early-stage environments.
• Experience developing applications that use modern ML or AI technology.
• Experience with 3D graphics, visual effects, or mobile audio and video streaming.
• A vision for future human-machine interaction.
