Engineering Manager (Core Payments)

Location: Remote within Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, or Paraguay

What you will do

• Lead the technical evolution of the Core platform, APIs, merchant experience, and payment integrations.
• Own system and integration architecture connecting backend services, PSPs, acquirers, and payment gateways.
• Contribute to development, architecture decisions, code reviews, API design, testing, and performance improvements.
• Ensure scalable, maintainable, and well-documented solutions for enterprise merchants.
• Collaborate with Product, Backend, and Payments teams to align platform and merchant needs.
• Hire, coach, mentor, and manage the performance of engineers while setting technical direction.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a technical engineering leadership role.
• Experience managing and growing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience in payments companies, payments-related teams, or PSP integrations.
• Deep knowledge of payments infrastructure, including network tokens, routing, and transaction optimization.
• Hands-on backend engineering experience with Java, Golang, Kotlin, or similar languages; knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, integration patterns, SQL, relational databases, secure development, and OWASP principles.
• Advanced English is required; conversational Spanish is a plus.
