VP, U.S. Policy (AI)

Develops Devin, an AI software engineer designed to reason about and perform real-world software tasks.

What you will do

• Define and own U.S. policy positions on AI, federal adoption, national security, workforce transformation, and technology competitiveness.
• Build trusted relationships with Congress, the Executive Branch, regulators, and federal agencies.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and geopolitical developments and translate them into recommendations for leadership.
• Produce policy positions, white papers, comment letters, briefing materials, and thought leadership.
• Represent the company in policy discussions, industry working groups, conferences, and strategic forums.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to incorporate policy considerations into product and roadmap decisions while building the internal policy team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, national security, or technology policy.
• Experience in Congress, the White House, a federal agency, a national security organization, or a leading policy institution.
• Sufficient knowledge of AI and underlying technical concepts to communicate with engineers and policymakers.
• Strong understanding of U.S. government institutions, the legislative process, regulatory frameworks, and federal budgeting cycles.
• Established bipartisan relationships with policymakers, regulators, and agency leadership, plus a record of influencing senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience advising senior government officials, executives, or technology leaders.
• Background in AI, cybersecurity, defense technology, cloud infrastructure, or emerging technology policy.
• Experience building a policy function or serving as the first policy hire at a fast-growing technology company.
• Understanding of both public- and private-sector perspectives on innovation and regulation.
