Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform (WebAssembly)

Location: Brighton, United Kingdom

Base salary: £55,700–£83,500 GBP gross for Zone A or £63,700–£95,500 GBP gross for Zone B, depending on primary work location.

What you will do

• Own meaningful areas of the hirify.global Web runtime from design through release.
• Design and implement Web build optimizations, including unused-code stripping and progressive asset loading.
• Improve download size, loading time, and startup performance for Web builds.
• Solve low-level problems across C++, C#, and JavaScript, including bringing multithreading to currently single-threaded runtime components.
• Partner with teams building on the Web platform and translate their needs into platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers, raise code quality standards, and advance the runtime alongside evolving browser capabilities.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on proficiency with C++ in performance-sensitive code.
• Development experience with WebAssembly using Emscripten and/or LLVM.
• Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing across the native and browser boundary.
• Working knowledge of C# and JavaScript.
• Ability to decompose complex technical problems and complete work independently.
• Professional written and verbal English is required for regular communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to a browser engine or browser runtime.
• Domain knowledge of rendering, physics, or audio in a real-time 3D engine.
• Familiarity with compression methods and build-size reduction.
