Deputy Head of Legal (AI)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands. Hybrid setup: after the first 3 months, work 2 days remotely and 3 days in the office each week.

What you will do

• Translate legal strategy and quarterly priorities into clear ownership, accountability, and execution.
• Lead the operating model for AI tooling covering contract review, terms and conditions management, and regulatory monitoring.
• Scale legal operations to manage five times the volume without a proportional increase in headcount.
• Provide transparent reporting on trust and transparency health, risks, and quality across the legal function.
• Manage a specialist legal team, define KPIs, and ensure delivery standards are met.
• Engage directly with regulators and advise senior leadership on complex regulatory risks.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with a Master's degree in Law.
• Strong background in financial services and experience running a legal or compliance function across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience engaging directly with regulators and representing legal positions independently.
• Experience managing a specialist legal team, setting KPIs, and maintaining measurable quality standards.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory risk into clear, actionable decisions for senior leadership.
• Experience designing AI systems and automating manual legal work at scale.
