Staff Engineer (Observability)

What you will do

• Architect and build mission-critical observability systems that improve performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, resiliency, and security.
• Develop telemetry collection and ingestion capabilities for metrics, logs, traces, and events across data and control planes.
• Improve observability workflows so engineers and customers can diagnose production issues and identify root causes quickly.
• Own critical code areas, write production-ready database code, investigate performance regressions, and maintain high standards for availability and durability.
• Handle customer escalations, participate in the on-call rotation, and collaborate with support, product, SRE, and engineering teams.
• Lead large technical projects, influence product roadmaps, interview advanced engineering candidates, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Based in Dublin and able to work in a hybrid model.
• At least 10 years of experience designing, programming, debugging, and tuning distributed or highly concurrent mission-critical systems.
• Expert-level programming experience with Go, Java, C, or C++ and strong systems fundamentals, including multithreading and performance profiling.
• Experience operating latency-sensitive, high-throughput systems and familiarity with database internals or core data-processing components.
• Familiarity with observability ecosystems and best practices, plus strong technical communication and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of information security management and the ability to assess project cost and complexity.
