TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (AI): Building the analytical layer for autonomous-driving model evaluation across simulation, on-road experiments, and internal tooling with an accent on statistical analysis, performance measurement, and evaluation methodology. Focus on identifying measurement gaps, connecting on-road findings to offline tests, and improving weekly model release decisions.
Location: Hybrid role based in the office in either London, UK or Sunnyvale, US, with time spent working from home.
Company
develops embodied AI software and foundation models for mapless, hardware-agnostic automated driving systems.
What you will do
- Build and own the analytical layer for weekly autonomous-driving model evaluation and release decisions.
- Improve simulation and offline metrics, evaluation suites, scoring logic, and measurement coverage.
- Analyze on-road experiments and determine how findings should improve offline tests and model evaluation.
- Apply statistical methods to experiments and evaluation data to provide evidence-based model promotion recommendations.
- Develop richer measures of model quality using behavioral and operational signals beyond intervention rates.
- Partner with Data Science, Validation, Product, engineering, safety, and OEM quality workflows to turn investigations into durable improvements.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, including the ability to turn unclear issues into evidence-backed conclusions.
- Experience with machine-learning evaluation data, driving-performance metrics, or complex test results at scale.
- Statistical experience with A/B testing and experimentation, including confidence intervals, distributions, and sampling.
- Proficiency in Python or SQL and experience querying and analyzing large datasets.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving environment and communicate concise recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work from the London, UK or Sunnyvale, US office under a hybrid policy.
Nice to have
- Experience in autonomous driving, robotics, or safety-critical machine-learning systems.
- Familiarity with simulation-based testing, on-road experiment analysis, or statistical comparison of model behavior.
- Experience defining quality standards across product, safety, and engineering teams.
- Exposure to OEM or partner validation workflows.
- Experience improving evaluation infrastructure or measurement methodology.
Culture & Benefits
- Hybrid work combining office and workshop collaboration with working from home.
- Inclusive, diverse, and respectful working environment.
- Support for accommodations and adjustments during the interview process.
- Opportunities to work on self-driving technology and complex safety-focused AI problems.
Hiring process
- Reasonable accommodations and adjustments are available for the interview process on request.
