Senior Postgres Engineer

Salary: $236,000–$339,250 per year, plus equity

Snowflake is building a large-scale, multi-cloud OLTP service based on Postgres for its existing customer base.

What you will do

• Develop the orchestration and control-plane layer for large-scale databases.
• Integrate with AWS, Azure, and GCP APIs.
• Build high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Tune Postgres for some of the largest datasets in the world.
• Secure customer data and contribute to system design across distributed systems and low-level performance optimizations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and developing large-scale production systems.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed, highly available, and fault-tolerant services.
• Strong understanding of operating-system concepts, including multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
• Experience with Java, Python or Ruby, and Go.
• Experience running and maintaining large Postgres servers.
• Experience with cloud networking, including VPCs, PrivateLink, and peering, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science.
• Expert knowledge of Postgres, including WAL, extensions, configuration, and replication.
• Experience designing large systems for public or private clouds.
• FedRAMP and DoD deployment experience.
