Brand Design Lead

Location: San Francisco, CA or remote within the United States

Base salary: $140,000–$185,000 per year

Descript builds an intuitive video and audio editing product for the age of AI, serving creators and companies with a team of approximately 150 employees.

What you will do

• Evolve and extend the brand across campaigns, web experiences, and events.
• Lead concepts and design for product launches and campaigns from brief through delivery.
• Develop scalable brand systems and toolkits for product, marketing, and sales partners.
• Use AI tools and processes to increase creative output without compromising quality.
• Direct internal and external creative partners, including illustrators and design engineers.
• Mentor designers and represent the design craft across the company.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in brand design, in-house or at an agency.
• A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and execution across web, social, and paid channels.
• Strong command of typography, color, and composition.
• Experience building brand systems that scale beyond individual output.
• Experience directing external creative partners.
• Fluency with AI tools and a clear perspective on where they should not be used.

Nice to have

• Brand experience in a SaaS company, especially creative software.
• Motion, front-end development, or illustration skills.
• Experience creating generative brand tooling.
• Comfort appearing on camera and sharing work publicly.
