Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering

Location: Lynchburg or Forest, Virginia, United States. On-site system installation and testing, with 30%+ travel required. U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

Salary: $92,500–$171,500 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, integrate, optimize, and test Land Mobile Radio wireless communications systems.
• Develop application descriptions, interface control documents, system design drawings, network configurations, as-built documentation, and test plans.
• Own systems engineering project execution after contract award, including equipment selection, factory and on-site installation, verification, and validation.
• Coordinate with project managers, network engineers, customers, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and internal technical teams.
• Perform system-level cost, risk, supportability, effectiveness, and lifecycle analyses.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide technical oversight to project teams and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to obtain Security+ certification and travel 30% or more.
• Experience with systems engineering, system integration, network configuration, and technical documentation.
• Effective written and verbal English communication and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• PMP or Security+ certification.
• Experience in the Land Mobile Radio industry.
• Broad project management knowledge and experience serving as the primary technical interface for projects.
