Chemist II (Cosmetic Formulation)

Salary: $72,000–$82,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Review product development requests, clarify requirements with Sales Executives, and support projects from concept through completion.
• Formulate OTC and non-OTC personal care, skincare, haircare, and sun care products to meet technical and aesthetic requirements.
• Prepare laboratory batches, conduct stability testing, troubleshoot formulations, and incorporate customer feedback through reformulation.
• Develop laboratory-scale manufacturing processes, including raw materials, processing parameters, benchmarks, specifications, and test results.
• Optimize formulations for product performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturing effectiveness while supporting scale-up activities.
• Maintain GLP-compliant R&D documentation, collaborate with Regulatory and Manufacturing, and mentor junior chemists and new hires.

Requirements

• Onsite work in Edison, New Jersey, United States.
• At least 2 years of experience in cosmetic formulation development and R&D.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience developing and modifying personal care, skincare, and haircare formulations.
• Knowledge of formulation troubleshooting, stability testing, laboratory best practices, FDA, CTFA, PCPC, cGMP, and cosmetic industry regulations.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
