Linux Software Engineer - System Manager (Embedded Linux) (i.MX SoCs/Embedded Systems): Architecting and porting system management firmware across the i.MX portfolio, with an accent on embedded C development, ARM Cortex-M/Cortex-A support, and Linux-based tooling. Focus on integrating firmware with SoC and BSP components, building coverage and performance tests, and debugging system management functions on customer systems.

What you will do

  • Architect system management features across the i.MX SoC portfolio and drive hardware support for system control.
  • Port system management firmware to new i.MX SoCs and development boards.
  • Develop tests to increase code coverage and evaluate firmware performance metrics.
  • Integrate and optimize system management functions across System ROM, ELE ROM/firmware, U-Boot, ATF, Linux, and MCU SDK components.
  • Port, debug, and optimize system management firmware on customer systems in collaboration with internal support teams.
  • Create documentation and support materials for system management firmware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of software development experience with embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in C programming for embedded systems.
  • Experience using Linux shell commands and development tools such as Git and Make.
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A architectures.
  • Knowledge of ARM assembly language.

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded debugging tools and probes such as Lauterbach.
  • Knowledge of embedded power management, including DVFS, CPUIdle, and suspend-to-RAM.
  • Knowledge of HDL, including Verilog or VHDL.
  • Knowledge of the ARM System Control and Management Interface specification.
