Mechanical Engineer Intern (Server Hardware)

Location: Hybrid in Spring, Texas; approximately 2 days per week in the HPE office

Salary: USD 35.00–41.00 per hour in Texas

What you will do

• Develop and deliver cost-effective mechanical, thermal, and acoustic designs for server systems.
• Use CAD to design sheet metal and plastic components for computer chassis and infrastructure.
• Design cooling systems using high-performance fans, heatsinks, and baffles.
• Apply materials science and mechanical design skills to hardware development.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, software, marketing, and program management teams to deliver servers to customers.
• Support thermal and environmental testing, including performance evaluation at different temperatures.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Understanding of PC architecture, microprocessor architecture, components, and thermal profiles.
• Ability to interpret Computational Fluid Dynamics reports and diagnose technical issues from written descriptions.
• Ability to use basic electronics testing tools, including soldering equipment and multimeters.
• Ability to install operating systems and software, run tests, and record results in files and MS Excel.
• Ability to work with drill presses, band saws, mills, lathes, and similar tools to modify computer chassis.
