Principal Security Software Engineer (Storage)

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week from an HPE office in the United States

Salary: USD 160,000–303,000 annual base salary in Colorado; USD 172,000–349,000 in California; USD 152,000–349,000 in North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Design and develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems across multiple platforms and business units.
• Develop and integrate software for HPE Storage products, including operating-system components, kernel drivers, microservices, and containerized applications orchestrated by Kubernetes.
• Act as a security consultant for engineering teams by reviewing architectures, features, and technical decisions.
• Manage the product vulnerability backlog, response planning, and remediation activities.
• Evaluate technologies, development partners, and integration plans against technology roadmaps and business value.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, design reviews, and cross-functional guidance to improve product quality and reduce security and delivery risks.

Requirements

• Master’s and PhD degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
• Typically 15+ years of professional experience.
• Deep practical experience building secure products in accordance with security protocols, industry standards, and best practices.
• Experience with security certifications and compliance involving third-party vendors or security agencies, including FIPS, Common Criteria, and DISA STIG.
• Experience with software architecture, multi-platform integration, testing methodologies, debugging, and test automation tools.
• Mastery of English and the local language, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
