Senior Security Engineer, Detection Engineer

Salary: $134,000–$179,000 base salary per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and implement advanced threat detection capabilities and custom detection logic.
• Lead or participate in real-time incident response, threat containment, and remediation.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting to uncover vulnerabilities and anticipate attacks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional, Red Team, and Purple Team partners to improve security visibility and detection effectiveness.
• Research emerging threats, attack vectors, detection methodologies, and Kubernetes security challenges.
• Contribute to security architecture, controls, assessments, and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

• Extensive experience creating custom alert logic with tools and query languages such as KQL, SQL, Splunk Query Language, or HiveQL.
• Experience writing detections in languages including Python, Bash, Go, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes fundamentals and strong knowledge of Linux or macOS internals and event sources such as eBPF and Endpoint Security Framework.
• Experience working with Red and Purple Teams, MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, and the Incident Response Lifecycle.
• Ability to deliver impactful projects across multiple technical domains and teams.
• Applicants must meet applicable US export-control eligibility requirements, including qualifying as a US person or being eligible for the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes-specific detection and security challenges.
• Open-source security contributions or experience developing detection tooling.
• Experience applying advanced analytics or machine learning to detection engineering.
