3GPP Developer (5G Core Networks)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of 2 days per week from an HPE office in Italy

Salary: EUR 48,700–95,700 annual base salary in Italy, plus potential variable incentives

What you will do

• Lead multiple software systems engineering project teams through solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Design and develop backend or distributed software systems for complex products and platforms.
• Manage relationships with internal and outsourced development partners.
• Review designs and project activities against software systems standards and provide feedback to improve product quality.
• Drive the integration of new technologies and provide technical leadership across cross-functional projects.
• Guide and mentor less-experienced staff members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Typically 6–10 years of software development experience.
• Strong backend software development skills and experience with Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals.
• Good understanding of IP networking, including major Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols.
• Experience with Git, issue-tracking platforms, software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Fluent English and Italian are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with 4G/LTE and 5G Core Networks, telecommunications protocols, and network function architectures.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel networking concepts and the network stack.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments.
• Knowledge of advanced IP routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems design principles.
