Investment Research Specialist (Equity)

Location: Hong Kong; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Research and rate China and Asia regional equity investment strategies for Mercer’s global client base.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence on investment managers and their strategies.
• Interview investment management decision-makers, review materials, analyze performance, and compare managers with peer groups.
• Assess portfolio style characteristics and consistency with each manager’s stated investment approach.
• Prepare research reports, present findings to internal committees and clients, and explain Mercer’s research process and investment views.
• Monitor market and industry trends while supporting broader Equity Team projects and investment analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
• At least six years of experience in investment management or consulting.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
• Excellent report writing, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to defend viewpoints in debate.
• Stable employment history showing increasing responsibility and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• CFA charterholder status.
• Experience in equity research or manager research within the investment industry.
• Fluency in Cantonese.
• Experience representing an investment research firm externally and building relationships within the investment community.
• Experience working independently and as part of a global team, with enthusiasm for continuous learning.
