Firmware Developer (BMC)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of 2 days per week in an HPE office

What you will do

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for firmware subsystems, including DSP, embedded code, CHIF, I2C, SPI drivers, BMC applications, and BIOS/UEFI.
• Lead software systems design and development across complex products and platforms, from solution design and coding through testing and integration.
• Coordinate internal and outsourced development partners and expand cross-organization engineering relationships.
• Review designs and project activities against development standards to improve product quality and reduce failure risk.
• Drive the integration of new technologies and provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in software or firmware development.
• Strong programming experience in C and C++, with Python experience also relevant.
• Experience with RTOS such as Green Hills Integrity, Embedded Linux, ARM or similar system controllers, and multi-platform software architecture.
• Experience with openBMC or Yocto-based Baseboard Management Controllers, Linux device drivers, inter-process communication, interrupts, exception handling, and dynamic memory.
• Knowledge of debugging tools including GDB, KDB, and JTAG debuggers, plus experience creating test plans, scripts, and testing methodologies.
