Senior Data Scientist, Operations Analytics

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; Boston-based with a 4-day in-office expectation

Annual base pay: USD 121,000–132,000

What you will do

• Design and maintain analytical models that generate strategic insights for fulfillment, planning, and operations teams.
• Translate analysis into concise recommendations and evidence-backed data stories for cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
• Build sensitivity analyses, tools, and dashboards using SQL, Python, and spreadsheet modeling.
• Guide decisions about when and where to open fulfillment centers and home delivery operations nodes over a 5+ year horizon.
• Develop operational improvements for fulfillment centers, including trailer unloading, carton putaway, pick efficiency, and large parcel assembly.
• Collaborate with Operations Research, Network Management, Transportation & Delivery, and other operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or a related field.
• Professional experience in analytics or data science, including quantitative analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including aggregate functions and joins.
• Hands-on experience with Python for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
• Fluency with generative AI coding tools such as Cursor, supported by strong foundational coding and analytical skills.
• Ability to work from the Boston office four days per week; the standard in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with two remote days.

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, ecommerce, supply chain, or consulting.
• Knowledge of supply chain and logistics concepts.
• Experience synthesizing open-ended problems into clear, evidence-backed narratives.
• Experience creating comprehensive slide decks and white papers.
• Strategic thinking, project direction, curiosity, and strong communication skills.
