Senior Software Engineer (Big Data)

Location: Onsite at J Street Offices, 2608 SE J St, Bentonville, Arkansas, United States

Salary: $90,000–$180,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Own feature and component delivery across customer data platforms.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure software throughout the full lifecycle.
• Build event-driven data processing solutions, real-time streaming applications, and stream-based data pipelines.
• Integrate AI/ML components and generative AI tools, including AI agents for business and engineering use cases.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Monitor application performance, resolve complex production issues, mentor peers, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with a relevant bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with GCP and programming in Python, Scala, Java, and Shell.
• Proficiency with Apache Spark, Hive, MapReduce, Airflow, REST APIs, and GraphQL.
• Experience with Big Data technologies, complex SQL and NoSQL queries, Cassandra, and BigQuery.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, real-time streaming, event-driven processing, and Java backend development.
• Ability to work onsite in Bentonville, Arkansas, United States.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
