Senior Motion Designer

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; hybrid work model with time split between the office and home

Salary: $83,100–$141,300 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Create motion graphics, animation, typography, visual effects, data visualizations, transitions, and branded motion elements.
• Translate briefs, scripts, data, and creative direction into storyboards, style frames, animatics, and finished motion solutions.
• Produce campaign videos, social content, digital advertising, executive communications, event content, explainers, and platform-specific adaptations.
• Build modular motion systems, templates, toolkits, project structures, reusable assets, and organized asset libraries.
• Apply visual identity, motion standards, accessibility, legal, licensing, technical, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with creative, strategy, marketing, production, and stakeholder teams while managing multiple deadlines and feedback rounds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in film, video production, motion design, animation, graphic design, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years of motion design, animation, and video experience in an agency, in-house, studio, or production environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, with working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder, Figma, Adobe Express, Adobe Firefly, and review tools.
• Strong command of motion graphics, animation principles, visual effects, motion typography, editorial pacing, storytelling, sound, color, finishing, and post-production workflows.
• Experience with multiple formats and channels, including 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, and 9:16, as well as templates, codecs, media management, captioning, accessibility, and delivery standards.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience building reusable motion systems, style frames, and asset libraries for scalable production.
• Experience with Workfront or a similar project management tool.
• A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating motion graphics, animation, visual effects, storyboarding, style frames, and video work.
