TL;DR
Financial Management Analyst (Federal Budgeting/Financial Management): Supporting Department of Energy financial, budget, operational, and administrative activities with an accent on federal budget lifecycle management, appropriations compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls. Location: Onsite at DOE Headquarters, 1000 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20585
Salary: $115,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do
- Support federal budget formulation, Congressional budget justification, budget execution, internal controls, and financial reporting for Department of Energy programs.
- Track funding, expenditures, commitments, obligations, costs, deliverables, and project documentation.
- Analyze financial data and prepare budget trackers, status reports, summaries, and performance reporting products.
- Resolve accounting issues, including accrual analysis, deferrals, discrepancy reconciliation, and compliance with federal accounting standards and DOE regulations.
- Develop and maintain budget, operational, workflow, process, and internal-control documentation.
- Collaborate with federal project managers, financial analysts, program administrators, interdisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, public administration, economics, or a related field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting federal budget planning, execution, tracking, and reporting.
- Knowledge of federal budgeting principles, budget accounting structures, appropriations management, internal controls, and federal reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and data-management skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required government credentials.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting Department of Energy programs or other federal agencies.
- Familiarity with federal financial management systems, business intelligence platforms, and data analytics tools.
- Experience developing standard operating procedures, process documentation, and workflow improvements.
- Knowledge of project management principles and program performance reporting.
